Acho particularmente interessante o aviso de Edgerton de que o modelo corrente de modernidade não descreve bem nem o que se passou na Europa. E portanto, os modelos de modernidade ocidental não se aplicam nem ao mundo não-ocidental, nem ao mundo ocidental. "...the problem is not just the so-called eurocentricity of our account of technology and global history, burt that our picture of the Eurocenter [itself] is of very dubious merit." p. 696
